Chancellor’s Award Latest Honor for Cote’
NEW PALTZ, NY — The awards continue to role in for SUNY New Paltz outfielder Jeff Cote’ (Mechanicsville, MD). The sophomore baseball standout is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award for the spring season.
Cote’, who has earned a 4.0 grade-point-average as a computer engineering major, was a first team All-SUNYAC selection and a two-time conference Player of the Week. In addition, he was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III Hitter of the Week on April 28 after hitting .625 over a six-game stretch.
This season, he hit a SUNYAC best .475 with three homers and 21 runs batted in. Cote’ produced 10 doubles, three triples, scored 24 runs and had a .787 slugging percentage. He recorded 12 multi-hit games and ended the season with a 15-game hitting streak.
Cote’ is the third SUNY New Paltz student-athlete to be honored with a Chancellor’s Award. Earlier this year senior Becky Sparacin (women’s tennis) and Allison Taub (field hockey) were named the head of the class in their sport.
The Chancellor’s Award is given to the student-athlete in each SUNYAC sponsored sport who owns the highest grade- point-average and is a member of an All-SUNYAC team.
Cote’ will receive his award at the SUNYAC Banquet on May 11 in Canandaigua, New York.
