Hawks Men’s Tennis Team Defeats Oneonta State, 4-3
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team improved to 9-4 on the season with a 4-3 victory over Oneonta State this afternoon. The Red Dragons drop to 5-4.
New Paltz earned the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Seniors Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY) and Brian Palmenteri (Howard Beach, NY) won the number two doubles, 8-0, over Brad Unguarsky and Jorday LaVaca. Junior Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) and Jason Letts (Plattsburgh, NY) upped their record to 10-3 at number three doubles with an 8-1 victory over Matt Deitch and Jeremy Essay.
Palmenteri, Greenspan, and Letts were also victorious in their singles matches. Palmenteri won the number three singles, 6-4, 6-1 over Unguarsky, Greenspan captured the number four singles, 6-1, 6-2, over LaVaca and Letts improved to 6-0 at number five singles (12-1 overall) with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Essay.
Oneonta State won the first, second, and sixth singles to garner their three points. Pat O’Toole won the number one singles, 7-6, 6-4, Lucas Coene won at number two, 6-1, 6-2, and Deitch captured the number six singles, 6-1, 1-6, 7-5.
