Hawks Blank Yeshiva in Home Finale

NEW PALTZ, NY — Playing its home finale, the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Yeshiva this evening at Elting Gym.

The Hawks improved to 16-7 overall with the victory. In addition, SUNY New Paltz is now 9-3 in the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division.

The Hawks, who posted their fourth straight 3-0 win, hit a season-best .434 for the match and had just 13 errors in the three games. SUNY New Paltz hit .519 in the opening game to prevail 30-16.

In the second game, SUNY New Paltz committed just two errors and used a .526 hitting percentage to register another 30-16 victory. In addition, junior outside hitter Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) had nine straight service aces and 10 in the game. Ganje had 10 of the Hawks 20 service aces on the night.

SUNY New Paltz senior middle blocker Rob Dietrich (San Jose, CA) played the final home match of his collegiate career. He had a team-high 13 kills and finished the match with a .429 hitting percentage.

Freshman outside hitter Jeff Lee (Clifton Park, NY) added seven kills and hit .545 for the Hawks.

Junior hitter Joey Small (Los Angeles, CA) had eight kills for Yeshiva (3-15, 0-12).
