Ganje Named NECVA Player of the Week
NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball standout Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) has been named the Player of the Week in the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association.
The junior outside hitter averaged 4.9 kills and 2.1 digs per game and had a .381 hitting percentage in a pair of wins last week. Ganje registered 23 kills, 12 digs and hit .425 in a 3-1 win over Philadelphia Biblical University on Feb. 24. Two days later, he recorded 11 kills, two blocks and hit .304 in a 3-0 sweep at Hunter College.
Ganje’s effort helped push the Hawks winning streak to seven. SUNY New Paltz is in the midst of its longest winning streak since capturing nine straight matches during the 2001 season.
The Hawks, 9-2 overall and 4-2 in the NECVA Metro Division, will play four matches in two days this weekend (Mar. 5-6) at the Endicott Tournament in Beverly, Massachusetts.
