SUNY New Paltz Indoor Track & Field Teams Opened Season at Hamilton Invitational
CLINTON, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams opened up their season at the Hamilton Invitational this afternoon. The men finished third among four teams with 87 points and the women came in second among four teams with 142 points. Hamilton College won both meets with 193 points for the men and 162 points for the women.
The men’s team had its best performances in the field events. They were led by junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) who finished first in the weight throw with a toss of 12.82 meters and came in second in the shot put with a toss of 13.46 meters while senior Adam Thyberg (Blue Point, NY) won the pole vault by clearing a height of 4.42 meters.
Freshman Anthony Bryant (Norwich, NY) was a dual winner as he captured the long jump with a mark of 6.14 meters and out ran his competitors in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.39. Senior John Zarella (Mahopac, NY) finished second in the 1500-meter run in 4:28.86 and in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.85.
The women’s team had a pair of double winners in sophomores Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) and Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT). Jackson-Buckner sprinted past the competition in the 200-meter dash in 27.69 and in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.04. Choromanski ran to victories in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:26.07 and in the 1000-meter run in a time of 3:24.93.
Senior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) soared to a second place finish in both the long jump (4.84 meters) and triple jump (9.66 meters).
