School of Business faculty receives award

NEW PALTZ — Theodore Clark, professor of business at the State University of New York at New Paltz, has been honored with the Direct Market Division (DMD) Recognition Award. In the 10 years the award has been granted, Clark is the first-ever faculty recipient of the award, which was presented at the 10th Annual Direct and Interactive Marketing Career Forum in New York City.

The award was presented for Clark’s support of the direct/internet marketing field based on his course development work in direct marketing and e-commerce at New Paltz, and for his leadership in creating opportunities for students to gain knowledge in the field of direct marketing.

“I accepted this award, quite frankly, on behalf of my students who are the beneficiaries of the knowledge that they gained in direct marketing,” Clark said.

Clark and 36 students from the School of Business attended the DMD Education Foundation’s annual conference in New York City on Oct. 10, which draws 300-400 students and faculty.

The trip was sponsored and coordinated by the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Clark is a full-time lecturer in the areas of marketing and business policy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Marist College (1981) and his MBA from Long Island University (1987) concentrating in both marketing and management. Previously, he taught at Marymount Manhattan College. Prior to starting his academic career, Clark spent 12 years in management positions with Equifax, State National Bank of Connecticut and the National Bank of Westchester.
