SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team Ties Ramapo in Home Opener
NEW PALTZ, NY – — SUNY New Paltz and Ramapo exchanged goals in the first eight minutes of the first half and the two teams went scoreless the rest of the way in a 1-1 overtime tie this afternoon at New Paltz.
The Hawks, playing their home opener, hit the scoring column first when junior midfielder Lauren Pastore (Levittown, NY) fired a shot past Ramapo sophomore goalie Christy Turner (Ringwood, NJ) four minutes into the game.
The Roadrunners (2-1-1) countered four minutes later with an unassisted goal from sophomore forward Lisa Baldino (Marlboro, NY).
From there neither team was able to cash in on its scoring opportunities. New Paltz junior goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made 10 saves while Turner had eight stops for the Roadrunners.
The Hawks will look for their first win of the season on Saturday (Sept. 13) in road match-up with Russell Sage
