New Paltz and Geneseo Women’s Tennis Match Called Due to Darkness
NEW PALTZ, NY — Today s women s tennis match between the SUNY New Paltz Hawks and Geneseo Knights was called due to darkness. At the time the match was called, the Knights were leading the Hawks 4-3. The match between the two SUNYAC rivals will not be replayed.
Geneseo won two doubles and two singles matches while New Paltz captured the third doubles match and two singles matches. The Hawks Kerry Farrell (Rockville Centre, NY) was a double winner as she defeated Allison Berical (Endwell, NY) 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and teamed with Becky Sparacin (Goshen, NY) to win first doubles, 8-6. Amie Larson (Port Jervis, NY) earned the third point for New Paltz with her 6-2, 6-3 victory over Sarah Muhlbauer (Pittsford, NY) at number four singles.
The two matches that were called due to darkness were at number two singles between Sparacin and Nicole King (Scottsville, NY) and at number five singles between Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) and Shalini Sudarsanan (Sherrill, NY).
