Oneonta Downs Hawks 5-2

ONEONTA, NY — Oneonta handed the New Paltz men’s tennis team a 5-2 defeat Saturday afternoon in Oneonta.

The Red Dragons took a 1-0 lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) and Jason Letts (Colebrook, NH) were the lone winners for the Hawks in #3 doubles defeating Oneonta’s Brad Lieberman and Matt Deitch 8-2.

In singles play, the Hawks managed to take two of the six matches. Nick Finger improved to 4-4 on the season with a 6- 1, 7-6 (8-6) win over Sean Heierman and Bobby Calise moved to 6-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jeremy Essay.

The Hawks will meet Hartwick tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.

Doubles: 1) Coene/Heierman (O) defeated Breakstone/Palmenteri (NP) 8-1. 2) O’Toole/VanderWoude (O) defeated Finger/Calise 8-3. 3) Greenspan/Letts (NP) defeated Lieberman/Deitch (O) 8-2.
