Hartwick Pounds Out 20 Hits, Defeats Hawks 14-6

NEW PALTZ — The Hawks from Hartwick beat the New Paltz men’s baseball team 14-6 today in frigid temperatures at Loren Campbell Field.

The game was called due to darkness in the top of the eighth inning.

Hartwick scored all 14 runs in the final five innings and banged out 20 hits on the afternoon.

Josh Jennings (Nelliston, NY) went 4-for-4 with two RBI for Hartwick. Stephen Marshall (Warwick, NY) drove in all three runs and got two hits and Josh Van Arsdale (Liverpool, NY) and Jonathan Pollack (Chappaqua, NY) each had three hits and drove in two runs.

The Hawks were led by catcher Josh Gutes (Hauppauge, NY) who tallied three hits on the afternoon. Vinny McAdams (Little Falls, NY), Randy Walters (Collierville, TN), and Marc Bernstein (Altamonte Springs, FL) each had two hits apiece.

Brett Rottkamp (Levittown, NY) got the win for Hartwick going five and 2/3 innings surrendering five runs on ten hits. Joe Gugliotta (Bayport, NY) took the loss for New Paltz giving up five runs on six hits in three and 1/3 innings of work.
