Golden Eagles Shutout Hawks

BROCKPORT, NY — The SUNY New Paltz softball team was beaten 4-0 and 14-0 Saturday by the Brockport Golden Eagles.

The loss drop the Hawks to 1-24 on the season while Brockport improves to 23-8.

In game one, Lindsay Adamy pitched a complete-game four-hitter to get the win. Kristin Ackerman (Middletown, NY) pitched a strong game for the Hawks giving up four runs on seven hits in six innings of work.

Tricia Cascio (Farmingville, NY), Colleen Powers (Monsey, NY), Katie Monahan (Port Jefferson Station, NY), and Nicole Potestivo (Staten Island, NY) all went 1-for-3 to lead the Hawk offense.

In game two, the Golden Eagles bats exploded in the late innings as a 3-0 game in the top of the fifth swelled to 14-0 in the top of the sixth.

Adamy picked up yet another victory as she pitched six innings giving up only five hits.

Wendy Del Orbe (Brooklyn, NY) picked up the loss giving up eight hits and nine walks.

Jessica Schropfer (Glen Oaks, NY) went 2-for-2 to highlight the New Paltz bats.

The Hawks will do battle with Fredonia in a makeup doubleheader in Oswego tomorrow to close out the SUNYAC season.
