Defending Champs Allow Five Hits Against Hawks in Sweep
GENESEO, NY — Geneseo, the reigning SUNYAC softball champions, defeated New Paltz softball 9-0 and 8-1 Friday to improve to 13-1 in conference play. The Hawks slip to 1-13.
Katie Hovey allowed just two hits in game one for the Blue Knights before Morgan Schmidt came on to finish the game in the fifth.
Liz McPartlan (Huntington Station, NY) and Jessica Schropfer (Glen Oaks, NY) got the only two hits for the Hawks. Jen Born (Walworth, NY) took the loss going four and 1/3 surrendering nine runs on 13 hits.
In game two, it was Sarah Taub who silenced the Hawk bats. Taub pitched six innings gave up just three hits and one run and Schimdt came on in the seventh to close the game.
The Blue Knights broke open a 2-1 game in the bottom of the fifth scoring six times en route to the win.
Danielle Porcelli (Huntington Station, NY) went, 1-for-2 while Born and Tricia Cascio (Farmingville, NY) were 1-for-3.
The Hawks will tangle with Brockport tomorrow beginning at 1:00 p.m.
