Hawks Go 1-3 at Endicott’s Northeast Classic

BEVERLY, MA — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team won its final match of the tournament Saturday at Endicott College’s Northeast Classic to go 1-3 for the weekend.

The Hawks defeated Medaille 3-1 (28-30, 33-31, 31-29, 30- 22) Saturday afternoon giving them a 3-17 record on the year. Mile LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) had 15 kills and 17 digs in the match and was named to the all-tournament team for his play in the Hawks’ four matches.

On Friday night, New Paltz lost a tough 3-2 (25-30, 20-30, 23-30, 33-31, 6-15) match to Ramapo and a 3-0 27-30, 28-30, 25-30) match to host Endicott College. Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) had 20 kills and seven digs in the five-game match against the Roadrunners while Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) had 55 assists. Against Endicott, Ian Henderson (Redding, CT) had seven digs, nine kills, and 15 assists.

Saturday morning, New Paltz suffered another tight 3-2 (30- 26, 24-30, 30-27, 19-30, 9-15) loss at the hands of D’Youville. LaRocco highlighted the match with 20 kills and 12 digs.

New Paltz is back in action on Tuesday Mar. 25 when they host Vassar at 7:00 p.m.
