Hawks Drop Three Straight to Sacred Heart
NEW PALTZ, NY – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team dropped to 0-6 on the year with a 3-0 loss to Sacred Heart this evening at Elting Gymnasium.
After winning the first game 30-25, Sacred Heart pulled away midway through games two and three to win 30-19 and 30-20.
The Pioneers recorded their third straight win behind the play of senior middle blocker Patrick Bihn (Floral Park, NY) who had five blocks, nine kills and a .583 hitting percentage. Sacred Heart also received eight kills and two service aces from sophomore middle blocker Michael Gardner (Brookfield, WI) to raise their record to 6-2.
New Paltz (0-6) had 14 service errors in the match and hit just .096 as a team. Sophomore middle hitter Steve Bristow (Richmond, VA) had six kills, three digs and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) added nine kills, four digs and four service aces.
The Hawks will travel to Bristol, RI to battle Roger Williams Friday at 7:00 p.m.
