Men 4th, Women 8th at SUNYAC Cross Country Championships
BROCTON, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men finished 4th while the women were 8th at the 2002 SUNYAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Fredonia in Brocton, NY.
The men finished with 111 points behind Geneseo (60), Brockport (86), and Plattsburgh (97).
Phil Goodwin (Rochester, NY) was the top finisher for the Hawks coming in at 26:51.61, good enough for 8th place, while Dan Holton (Rhinebeck, NY) was right behind Goodwin in 9th (26:51.84). John Zarella (Mahopac, NY) was next in 25th with a time of 27:40.58 followed by Justin Lee (East Fishkill, NY) who finished in 27:52.67.
Goodwin and Holton, with their top-fifteen finishes, make second-team All-SUNYAC.
The women’s team finished with 193 points. Rebecca Demeri (Wantagh, NY) was New Paltz’s top finisher in 22nd place with a time of 20:30.43. Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) was three places behind in 25th with a time of 20:37.48.
Geneseo finished first as a team with 22 points followed by Cortland with 47.
