Hawks Fall 6-2 to Utica
NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team slipped to 2-7 on the year with a 6-2 loss to Utica College Wednesday night at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.
Karyn Connors scored two goals assisted by Julie Zingerline and Alyssa Hohman and Nicole Bouschor tallied one goal apiece as the Pioneers found themselves with a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half. The Hawks got one back just before the end of the first session on Musu Jackson-Buckner’s blast from fifteen yards out.
Two and a half minutes into the second half, the lead was back to four as Hohman got her second of the game from Zingerline. New Paltz pressured the Pioneer goal the entire second half tallying nine shots but were unable to put one past goalie Jenny Lounsbury until the 62:40 mark on Patricia Erikson’s goal. Utica got their final goal less than four minutes later from Renee Gamela for the 6-2 final score.
Lounsbury registered four saves for Utica while New Paltz goalie Erica Engstrom made six.
