SUNY New Paltz student marketers win national awards
The student chapter of the American Marketing Association at the State University of New York at New Paltz won three major awards at the 24th American Marketing Association Annual International Collegiate Conference, held in Orlando, Fla., in April.
The chapter received the award for Best Chapter Plan, which was given for excellence in writing a strategic plan, analyzing chapter strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, and developing activities to meet those goals. It won the Outstanding Fundraising Activities award, which came, in part, from the unique market research projects performed by the chapter. And, the chapter won the Outstanding Professional/Student Development Award for its programming designed to enhance the professional skills of its student members, including the annual Business Day Conference.
“We are very proud of our students and of the AMA faculty advisor, Professor Ted Clark. Their work is a reflection of the School of Business,” said School of Business Dean Hadi Salavitabar. “These students competed against colleges such as Penn State, Ohio University, Loyola, and California State University. Their achievement in Orlando shows the quality of education students receive at New Paltz.”
Representing the SUNY New Paltz chapter were faculty advisor, Professor Ted Clark of Poughkeepsie; AMA President Meredith Phelan of Oceanside; AMA Executive Vice President Joella Knapp of Piseco; AMA Vice President of Programming Cherrette Furr of Brooklyn; AMA Vice President of Fundraising Angel Chen of Taiwan; and AMA Vice President Elect Jennifer Midollo of Wappingers Falls.
The American Marketing Association is a student association of the SUNY New Paltz School of Business. It is one of 380 chapters from across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
