SUNY New Paltz Hawks Back In Action
NEW PALTZ — Once again, summer draws to a close and college students from across the country migrate back to SUNY New Paltz. As students, faculty and staff settle back into their daily routines the varsity teams suite up for their first weekend of competition.
Five of out of our six fall sports travel to compete in their respective season openers this weekend. Men’s Soccer, lead by Coach Stuart Robinson in his tenth year behind the helm of the Hawks, competes Saturday away at Keuka College. Women’s Soccer, lead by Coach Colleen Bruley in her fifth year, competes Saturday away at NYU. Women’s Volleyball, lead by Coach Bob Thorburn in his second year, begins with a season opening tournament Saturday morning at Skidmore College. Women’s Tennis, lead by Coach Rob Bruley, in his fourth year, opens Saturday and Sunday at RPI. Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, lead by Coach Mike Schmidt and Coach Brett Willmott both in their second year, travel Saturday to compete at Plattsburgh. Field Hockey, lead by Coach Heather Mackay in her second year, begin their season Saturday at 2:00pm in front of a home crowd at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, New York.
