Institute promotes geography excellence
NEW PALTZ — The New York Geographic Alliance’s annual Summer Institute will be held at SUNY New Paltz July 8-20.
The New York Geographic Alliance (NYGA) is part of a national network of state geographic alliances sponsored by the National Geographic Society’s Geographic Education program. The NYGA’s Summer Institute provides an opportunity for administrators and K-12 teachers to gain extensive training in geographic content, classroom applications and techniques to improve geographic education in primary and secondary schools.
Participants are chosen from a statewide competition. During the program, the K-12 teachers will live and work on campus, attending a variety of lectures and workshops presented by university professors and teacher consultants.
