Hawks Lose Women’s Lacrosse Matinee
KINGSTON — Brockport’s offense was too much for New Paltz to handle, as the Hawks fell 16-3 in a SUNYAC women’s lacrosse match on Saturday morning at Dietz Stadium.
Tiera Stonewell (four goals, one assist) scored twice in each half for Brockport (4-1 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC), while Emily Beckwith and Melissa Goodenow added three goals apiece.
New Paltz freshman Megan Porter scored a goal early to extend her scoring streak to five games, while Hawk teammate Katie Sharp had a goal just after halftime to raise her school-record point total to 58, and keep her scoring streak (now 10 games) alive.
Freshman goalkeeper Liz Clarke made 17 saves for New Paltz (0-5 overall, 0-2 SUNYAC) in the loss, while Marcy Quackenbush and Nicole Morris combined to stop seven shots for the Golden Eagles.
New Paltz is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Cortland – which is ranked fifth in the NCAA’s New York Region – for a 4 p.m. SUNYAC match.
