Hawks Sweep Past Mount St. Mary In Swimming
NEW PALTZ — Jeff Galaise won two individual events on the men’s side, and Jennifer Gregory nearly qualified for the SUNYAC Championships while winning the women’s 100-yard Breaststroke, to lead SUNY New Paltz past Mount St. Mary in a swimming dual meet on Wednesday night at Elting Natatorium.
New Paltz won the women’s meet, 108-58, and also took the men’s meet, 96-63. It was the final home dual meet of the season for the (7-2 women, 6-2 men) Hawks.
The men finished 1-2 in five of the 11 events, and exhibitioned four of those other six. Meanwhile, Nicole Petrous, Allison Hand, Molly Soule and Erin Thorsen picked up individual wins for the women, which also exhibitioned four events.
The Hawks’ final dual meet will be 1 p.m. this Saturday at SUNYAC rival Cortland. Then they’ll compete at the SUNYAC Championships February 7-10 at Buffalo’s Erie Community College.
