Hawks Split Final Dual Meet
CORTLAND — Mark Otto won three individual events and Jeff Galaise won two, as SUNY New Paltz held off SUNYAC rival Cortland, 124-110, in a men’s swimming and diving dual meet at Cortland’s Holsten Pool on Saturday afternoon.
In the women’s meet, meanwhile, little went right, as New Paltz fell 142-98.
The New Paltz men (7-2 dual meets) won seven of 13 events in its final dual meet of the season. Molly Soule provided New Paltz’s lone individual win in the 500-yard Freestyle and Jennifer Gregory qualified in a time trial for the SUNYAC Championships in the 200-yard Breaststroke to highlight an uncharacteristically long day for the (7-3) Hawk women.
The next task for the Hawks will be the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 7-10 at Erie Community College in Buffalo.
