New Paltz Tames Wildcats In Men’s Soccer
NEW PALTZ — Mario Lavacca scored three goals, including two in the first half, to help pace New Paltz past Utica/Rome, 4-0, in SUNYAC men’s soccer on a soggy Wednesday afternoon.
Olu Osinowo tallied the (4-12 overall, 4-5 SUNYAC) Hawks’ other goal in the contest, which was dominated by New Paltz, 23-4, on shots. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Vaughan-Cherubin made two saves to record his first collegiate shutout.
Ed Snyder III provided three of the (1-13 overall, 0-9 SUNYAC) Wildcats’ four shots.
New Paltz returns to action at 11 a.m. Saturday, when it hosts local rival Mount St. Mary.
