Hawks Beat Mount St. Mary In Tennis
NEW PALTZ — Jennifer Lipp and Rachel Murray won twice each to help pace SUNY New Paltz past local rival Mount St. Mary, 7-2, on Wednesday indoors at the Hawks’ Air Structure.
Lipp first teamed with Megan Crevioserat to defeat the Knights’ Melanie Jackson and Caroline Ferrero, 8-3, at first doubles. Then Lipp dropped just two games while beating Jackson again, 6-1, 6-1, at fourth singles.
Murray combined with Tara Schinsing to blank Kerri Meyer and Ursula Tort, 8-0, at third doubles, and later beat Adreena Cuenin, 6-2, 6-3, for her fourth straight third singles win.
New Paltz (6-8) competes at the SUNYAC Tennis Championships at the Eastridge Racquet Club in Manlius – near Syracuse – this Friday through Sunday.
