Men’s Volleyball Team Drops Opener
NEW PALTZ — Eighteen service errors translated into a tough opening night for the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team, which lost 15-11, 15-7, 15-12 to Division II Concordia on Thursday night at Elting Gymnasium.
The (0-1) Hawks, ranked 10th in the first weekly AVCA Men’s Volleyball Top 15 Coaches Poll, managed to generate numerous scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize on those chances. Freshman Miguel Soriano led the New Paltz offense with 12 kills, while junior standouts Chris Wright (six kills, three blocks) and Robert Manosca (14 assists, six kills, two blocks) also contributed.
New Paltz returns to action with a 7 p.m. match next Thursday at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
