Hawks Suffer First Loss
NEW PALTZ — An eight-and-a-half minute lapse midway through the game was the difference for New Paltz as St. Lawrence University defeated the host Hawks, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Torey Davie got the (3-1-0) Saints on the scoreboard just before halftime, dribbling in and beating Hawk goalkeeper Laura Neander to her right at 44:05. Then just 1:32 into the second half, Meredith Eisenhut beat Neander with a shot into the left corner of the goal.
Less than five minutes later, Eisenhut struck again, this time setting up Erin Garland’s goal at 50:55. Freshman forward Maria Puccio converted a pass from Melissa Butterweich in the 77th minute for New Paltz to spoil Margaret O’Neill’s shutout bid.
The Hawks are back in action at 4 p.m. on Monday at Mount St. Mary.
