Hawks Fall In Home Opener
NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team failed to win a set against Division II Dowling College on Sunday en route to a 9-0 loss in its home opener.
The tandem of Denise Cariola and Jennifer Lipp provided the most opposition at first doubles, before losing 8-4. Meanwhile, Ashley Momtahen extended Dowling’s Megan Tracey to 12 games, falling 7-5 in set one, but then went quietly, 6-1, in the decisive second set.
New Paltz, which falls to 0-3, will next face Hunter College at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the National Tennis Center in Flushing.
