Bodenschatz Presented with Top SUNY Admission’s Award
NEW PALTZ — Richard Bodenschatz, associate director of undergraduate admissions, is the recipient of the State University of New York’s College Admissions Professionals top honor: the Admissions Profession Award. Bodenschatz was given the tribute at the organization’s 29th annual conference held recently in Lake Placid, NY.
The award, which has only been accorded six times in SUNYCAP’s 29 year history, recognizes the extraordinary professional achievement of an individual in the field of college and university admissions. Recipients must have at least five years of SUNY admissions service, must demonstrate a long-term commitment to the concept of public higher education, and show continued and outstanding service to the various constituencies that avail themselves of public higher education.
Bodenschatz holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta and a master’s from New Paltz. He began his career as an admissions counselor at New Paltz in 1978. Bodenschatz served as president of SUNYCAP from 1988 to 1990. In 1994, he received the SUNYCAP Service Award, another top honor conferred on only five individuals in the past 29 years.
“Mr. Bodenschatz has dedicated his life to the field of admissions advising,” said L. David Eaton, vice president for enrollment management at SUNY New Paltz. “Fortunately for the university, his tenure in the field has been at New Paltz. His professionalism and hard work have made him a significant shareholder in the enormous success that SUNY New Paltz has enjoyed in admitting and educating top quality students,” added Eaton.
