Web Resources from CMU
The Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence & Educational Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University hosts a valuable website for faculty looking for information on course design and teaching best practices. This site contains excellent resources pertaining to course design; using technology in the classroom (both virtual and physical); a section on teaching and learning principles; and sections that cover the assessment of teaching issues, as well as a branching set of questions for targeting and solving specific teaching issues. Also of interest at CMU is the Open Learning Initiative, which is a non-credit bearing series of courses in a variety of subjects that are open to all learners. These self-paced, completely open, online courses are structured to provide free scholarly educational course materials and continuous feedback to all participants.
