School of Education Submits Quality Assurance Report for AAQEP
The School of Education (SoE) has completed its self-study for the Association for Advancing Quality in Education Preparation (AAQEP). Under the direction of Dr. Sunny Duerr, the Quality Assurance Report was submitted on October 21, 2021, for review by AAQEP. A virtual site visit is planned for April 2022 with the accreditation decision occurring in the fall. The SOE became a member of AAQEP in 2019 after changing its framework from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) to the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
The report consists of an Executive Summary; an Introduction; four chapters focusing on Standards One through Four; Conclusions, Findings, and Commitments; and nine Appendices. Written by professional staff and faculty members, the report totals 836 pages. The four standards, which each includes six aspects, are: Standard One—Candidate & Completer Performance; Standard Two—Completer Professional Competence and Growth; Standard Three—Quality Program Practices; and Standard Four—Program Engagement in System Improvement. In conclusion, the report states: “The review of our programs through the multiple lenses of our own Individual Program Reviews and this Quality Assurance Report and its supporting Appendices has provided ample evidence supporting our claim that the educator preparation unit at SUNY New Paltz satisfies the criteria for each element of the AAQEP standards.”
