LGBTQ+ Allies workshops in February for all campus community members

The Office of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion is hosting two sets of workshops this month for students, staff and faculty to create support and understanding between the campus LGBTQ+ community and allies.

Understanding Gender and Supporting the Trans+ Community (Feb. 7 from 1-2:30 p.m. in SUB 409 & Feb. 15 from 5-6:30 p.m. in SUB 401) gives participants concrete and relevant ways to practice trans-inclusivity.

Through the LGBTQ+ Allies Workshop (Feb. 8 from 1-2:30 p.m. in SUB 409 and Feb. 23 from 12-1:30 p.m. in SUB 401), attendees will take part in an interactive exchange with resource materials and introductory information regarding sexual orientation and gender identity.

Allies who attend and agree to maintain solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community will get a logo hang tag to put on their office or residence hall door. This will signify to the campus community that they are an Ally and are open and willing to serve as a resource for anyone seeking assistance with LGBTQ+ issues and concerns.

Sessions will be facilitated by LGBTQ+ Program and Diversity Manager Fresia Martinez. Feel free to get in touch at martinef1@newpaltz.edu with questions about these programs.
