Introducing Tatiana Perez, new Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards

The Division of Student Affairs is excited to formally welcome Tatiana Perez ’07 (Management), who returned to her alma mater in October 2022 to serve in a new position as Director in the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards.

In this role she will coordinate campus response to student conduct violations; work closely with student support professionals, faculty, staff and students; train and supervise Hearing Committee members; co-chair the Title IX Working Group; sit on the Personal Safety Committee; and prepare required federal reporting, among other duties.

The Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards was renamed to reflect the developmental focus on personal responsibility and communal expectations. Perez will work alongside Associate Director Jenn Slader, who joined the department in 2021 after many years of service in Residence Life.

“I am very excited to be returning to New Paltz in this capacity,” Perez said. “As an alumna, New Paltz has always been home, and it holds a special place in my heart. I am happy to be able to now share this love with my own family.”

As a highly motivated and detailed orientated higher education professional with a decade of experience in the areas of student conduct, residential life, and student orientation and engagement, Perez has a proven track record of providing strong personal and professional development to students.

Perez returns to SUNY New Paltz after serving as Director for the Office of Community Standards at Purchase College, a sister institution in SUNY. Prior to Purchase, she held varied roles in residence life at SUNY New Paltz, Mills College and Manhattanville College.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from New Paltz, Perez earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration degree from Stony Brook University in 2015.
