Performance by singer-songwriter, pianist Sarah Perrotta ’02 to kick off Alumni Reunion Weekend, Oct. 14

Singer-songwriter, pianist and SUNY New Paltz alumna Sarah Perrotta ’02 (Jazz Studies) and her band (including a string quartet!) will kick off Alumni Reunion Weekend with a special performance on Oct. 14, 2022, in Studley Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

The string arrangements were scored by prominent Italian film composer Enzo DeRosa and were used for Perrotta’s latest album Blue to Gold, produced by world-renowned drummer Jerry Marotta (of Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Sarah McLachlan).

“My studies at New Paltz gave me a strong foundation that I have built my life off of,” said Perrotta. “I’ll never forget it and I’m so happy to be playing a concert at the great Studley Theatre where I have so many wonderful memories.”

Tickets are $10 at the door and free for SUNY New Paltz students. The event is open to the public and kicks off the Music Department’s Fall Concert Series.

Born into a musical family, Perrotta has been singing and composing music since early childhood. She studied classical piano, participated in several bands in high school and toured European cathedrals and concert halls with a choir at the age of 15.

After earning her degree at New Paltz, she released her debut album “Drink the Sky” with her acclaimed indie band Outloud Dreamer (a duo with bassist/producer Carl Adami) when she was 19.

“The jazz program at New Paltz really felt like a family to me,” said Perrotta. “It was a small program with only about 25 jazz studies majors while I was there. We got into the music so deeply and were truly supported and inspired by our professors and each other.

Perrotta’s performance at the College is just one of many planned events to welcome alumni and friends back to SUNY New Paltz for Alumni Reunion weekend. View the schedule of events and activities online.
