“May your contributions make the world a better place”: A Senior Toast for the Class of 2022

Hundreds of graduates-to-be filled the Athletic & Wellness Center to celebrate at the annual Senior Toast, May 19, 2022

“Very soon, you’ll be completing your student journey: a journey that has been unique in so many ways. You persevered through a pandemic, which presented challenges no one would have imagined when you receive your well-earned diplomas. The skills you have learned, the relationships you have built and the self that you have discovered during your time here will stay with you forever.” – Director of Alumni Relations Christopher Brown ’85

“The Meaning of the Orange Rose: Orange is a color of warmth, unlimited energy and enthusiasm. When new ventures are on the horizon, the orange rose celebrates the journey of all new beginnings. The orange rose also indicates pride: When you are honored to be associated with someone and believe that a person deserves to be lauded, an orange rose says, ‘I am so proud of you!'”

“We’re so excited to see you all standing in front of us with your classes and your roses. It’s certainly my favorite event of the year and I hope it’s one that you’ll cherish forever. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!” – Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Mike Patterson

The Toast included the presentation of the Senior Gift, an effort by each graduating class to benefit future generations of New Paltz students. This year’s Senior Gift Committee helped raise more than $4,500, and presented that generous gift at the Senior Toast.

“Best wishes as you close out your time and prepare for Commencement! Please raise your glasses for all that you have brought to us during your years here, and all that you are taking with you. May your contributions make the world a better place.” –Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Barbara G. Lyman
