Backpack Give Back: New Paltz Rotary Club packs food for families in need

A host of student organizations are joining forces with the New Paltz Rotary Club on a drive to provide backpacks and notes of encouragement to children and families in our local school district.

All members of the SUNY New Paltz community are invited to donate to the Backpack Give Back at collection boxes across campus.

The collection boxes will also include notecards on which students can share uplifting messages for kids, which will be included with the backpacks when they are donated.

Collection boxes for the backpacks will be in place from April 27 through the end of the semester and will be located in the following areas:

This program builds on an existing campaign coordinated by Rotary Club, which packs food for families identified through the New Paltz Central School District as food insecure. The food is provided in backpacks to maintain privacy. Backpacks collected through our campus Give Back will be used to support this program.

The Backpack Give Back is sponsored by the following student clubs and organizations: All4Jesus, Alpha Phi Omega, Catholic Campus Ministry, Delta Alpha Pi, Disability Resource Center, Episcopal Campus Ministry, and the Student Christian Center, in coordination with the New Paltz Rotary Club.
