Apply now! Literacy tutoring for grades 2-12 returns for the summer

The Literacy Center at SUNY New Paltz is now accepting applications for the summer 2022 Literacy Tutoring Program, which is open to all students in grades 2-12 who need additional literacy support.

The Literacy Tutoring Program connects children with candidates in New Paltz’s Master’s in Literacy Education degree program, for targeted instructional support.

Just like in the spring, all services will be provided in a fully online learning environment this summer.

There will be 14 literacy tutoring sessions during July 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28.

Morning sessions will take place from 8:30 to 10:25 AM, with afternoon sessions from 1:30 to 3:25 PM.

Children accepted for participation are required to attend all 14 morning or 14 afternoon literacy tutoring sessions.

Tutors are trained to provide individualized reading and writing lessons to students of various ages, with supervision and guidance from professors in the School of Education.

Tuition for the summer program is $75 per child, which is due at the time of acceptance. Spaces are limited, so please apply now by clicking this form.

If you have accessibility questions or require accommodations to fully participate in these sessions, please contact Literacy Center Coordinator Sam Slotnick at 845-257-2809 or slotnics@newpaltz.edu.
