Free gender-affirming clothing for New Paltz students, April 1 starting at noon

SUNY New Paltz will welcome Trans Closet of the Hudson Valley to campus on Friday, April 1, as an opportunity for support and gender affirmation through free clothes that will be available for our trans and non-binary students.

The event will take place from noon – 4 p.m. in the Concourse in front of the Sojourner Truth Library. It is presented by the Psychological Counseling Center and the Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion.

“Students are invited to come by the Trans Closet tables and take what you want, be who you are, and hopefully leave looking and feeling fabulous,” said Senior Counselor Lauren Spencer.

Trans Closet of the Hudson Valley is new project for and by local members of the trans community, providing clothes, gender-affirming supplies, and other resources to our community without question or cost. Their mission is to enable trans people to shop in a gender euphoric, body positive, welcoming environment where everything is free and there is no limit to what you can take.

There will also be free resources on coping with gender dysphoria and a zine-making area where you can contribute to a co-authored publication for the campus Zine Library.

Please note: This is not a clothing drive and donations will not be accepted during this event. It’s designed simply to let students come take what they want!
