The College’s GE Board developed this proposal following the Nov. 9, 2021, approval of a new SUNY General Education Framework, which is expected to be implemented at all SUNY campuses in time for the fall 2023 semester.

The GE Board worked in consultation with the Curriculum Committee, the Diversity Board, experts in offices across campus (including Admissions and Records & Registration), and the Provost’s Office in drafting a proposed GE revision to align with the SUNY Framework.

The GE Board has also prepared a comparison chart to help members of our community navigate differences between our current General Education structure (GE4), the Framework adopted by SUNY, and the proposed revision for our campus.

The GE Board encourages everyone with an interest in helping shape the future of General Education at SUNY New Paltz to attend.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Anne Deutsch (GE Board Chair, deutscha@newpaltz.edu) or Rebecca Longtin (GE Board Deputy Chair, longtinr@newpaltz.edu).
