New Paltz came in at No. 2 in New York State (and first in NY among four-year colleges) in a new higher education report that cross references tuition prices and LGBTQ+ support on campus.
Student Loan Hero, an education platform that offers financial tools to help current and former students manage debt, had SUNY New Paltz at No. 29 overall in its nationwide survey of affordable, LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities.
This list compares tuition data against an index created by the nonprofit organization Campus Pride, which evaluates colleges on a one-to-five-star scale based on policies, administrative support, community involvement and other factors.
New Paltz offers an array of support services for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff, including an LGBTQ Coordinator dedicated to providing broad support for the community, a full events series, and an Allies Program designed to build a network of support and communication on issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity.
There are many additional resources and opportunities available to New Paltz students, including gender-inclusive housing, a simple and transparent chosen/preferred name policy, and a number of active student organizations, among others.
