Remote work practices extended locally through June 30, 2021

The following message was sent by email to all faculty and staff on March 18.

Dear Colleagues,

The current Telecommuting Pilot Program for state employees, first announced by the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations in March 2020 and later continued to April 2, 2021, has not yet been formally extended.

We understand that there is advocacy with the Governor’s Office to extend the current telecommuting agreements to the end of June. We hope a decision will be communicated soon to the campuses, and we will share that information with our community when it becomes available. If the dates and terms of the current telecommuting agreements are extended SUNY-wide or statewide, such guidance or directive will supersede our current practices.

To the extent permitted by state employment rules, the College will exercise its discretion to continue to manage staggered work schedules and remote work practices through June 30, 2021. This extension applies to employees represented by CSEA, UUP and PEF, as well as M/C employees.

Our low-density staffing practices remain an effective measure for protecting our campus community during the pandemic. We also recognize that there remains significant uncertainty for many employees with children in childcare and K-12 schools. We hope this continued flexibility provides some support and stability to employees as we transition into spring.
