Employee trainings from the Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion: Late March 2021

The Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion will offer the following trainings and workshops in the coming weeks. Each of these sessions is open to all members of the campus community, though they are designed primarily to support the development needs and interests of faculty and staff.

Each session will be presented via Webex; access information will be provided to those who register prior to the session.

Troubleshooting and Working with IT Support – Monday, March 15, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

This session will explore tips and tricks for troubleshooting issues that arise when working with technology. Open to all members of the campus community.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Know the three things to do when they encounter a technical issue.
  • Be aware of on-demand resources to support your technology questions.
  • Know the best practices for getting the help you need from IT support services.

Excel Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts – Tuesday, March 16, 1 – 2:30 p.m.

This session will provide some shortcuts and tips to make your use of Excel faster and easier. We’ll cover keyboard shortcuts, text functions, formatting, filters, auto-fill, etc. We will also include some tips that work in Word and PowerPoint.

This training is intended for employees who are comfortable using Excel and are interested in learning some of the ways to make it easier to use. Open to all members of the campus community.


Using OneDrive – Friday, March 19, 12 – 1 p.m.

This session is an introduction to using OneDrive to organize, store, and share files and folders. It is open to all members of the campus community.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Know how to access OneDrive, and understand when and why to use it.
  • Understand the different elements of the OneDrive screen; how to modify the layout; how to create folders; and how to upload, download and move files within OneDrive.
  • Know several ways of sharing files, and best practices for doing so.

Using Scheduling Tools in Outlook – Tuesday, March 23, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

If you’ve been frustrated by constantly having to send emails back and forth to schedule meetings, this training is for you!

There are several easy-to-use tools available through Outlook. We’ll show you how to use these tools, and when to use each. Open to all members of the campus community.


Counseling and Counseling Memos – Friday, March 26, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Passwords & Computer Security – Monday, March 29, 2 – 3 p.m.

Are you overwhelmed by passwords?  Looking for ways to come up with unique, strong, and memorable passwords – or how to use password managers to keep things safe and secure? Then this session is for you.

We’ll cover creating and storing passwords and even talk about password mistakes that cybercriminals often take advantage of. Open to all members of the campus community.
