Daily Health Screening now required for two weeks before on-campus presence for spring semester

With a little more than two weeks before students begin returning to campus for the spring 2021 semester, we remind our community that all students, faculty and staff must complete the Daily Health Screening at my.newpaltz.edu for 14 consecutive days prior to their first on-campus presence.

This is a new SUNY policy for all campuses in the state university system this spring.

Members of our community should plan ahead to make sure they can meet this SUNY requirement, based on your expected first day back on campus for the spring semester. For instance:

  • If you are a resident student planning to move back to campus when halls open on Jan. 17, you must complete the Screening every day beginning Jan. 3
  • If you are a faculty or staff member planning to use your on-campus office when remote classes begin on Jan. 19, you must complete the Screening every day beginning Jan. 5
  • Faculty and students in any of the courses that will begin meeting in person on Jan. 25 must complete the Screening every day beginning Jan. 10
  • Students, faculty and staff who plan to be on campus when in-person classes resume on Feb. 1 must complete the Screening every day beginning Jan. 17

After this 14-day pre-screening period, all students, faculty and staff will be required to attest that they have completed this requirement. The attestation will take place within the Health Screening. They will then be required to complete the Screening on any day they intend to be on campus, as was the policy during the fall 2020 semester.

Essential employees who have had a continuous on-campus presence between the fall and spring semester should continue completing the Health Screening every day they are on campus.

Students who do not complete these Health Screenings, attestations or any other pre-semester requirements will have their card access terminated, and residential students will not be permitted to move in to their on-campus residence.

Please also remember that SUNY is requiring all students to complete a seven-day quarantine prior to their first time on campus in spring 2021, and to attest that they have completed this requirement. That attestation will also take place within the Health Screening.

SUNY is also requiring all students and employees to produce a negative COVID-19 test result, taken within three days prior to or five days after their first time on campus in spring.

The College will offer daily (Monday – Friday) on-campus COVID-19 testing from Jan. 19 – Feb. 4 to help students, faculty and staff meet this requirement.

Anyone who chooses to submit test results from an off-campus facility must do so within five days of arrival on campus. Students can submit off-campus test results using this link. Employees can submit off-campus test results as an email attachment to benefits@newpaltz.edu, a fax to 845-257-3621, or as a hard copy put in the drop box outside the Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion (HAB 603).
