Weekly update from the Career Resource Center – Sept. 8, 2020

Here’s everything you need to know about the Career Resource Center’s offerings for students this week:


Fall 2020 Office and Drop-In Hours

The Career Resource Center will be open this fall, but all appointments and drop-in hours will be hosted virtually.

Students can use this link to schedule an appointment with one of the Center’s career professionals. Appointments are available Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Career Resource Center team is also hosting virtual drop-in hours for students who are looking for quick information or more informal advice. Drop-in hours are Monday – Thursday, 12 – 4 p.m. Learn more and get the Zoom meeting URL using this link.


Career Resource Center is live on Instagram, every Tuesday at 2 p.m.

This week, on Tuesday, Sept. 8: Career Specialist Samantha Lopes interviews alumna Tamara Litt ’15 (Early Childhood & Childhood Education). Litt is a kindergarten “Gifted & Talented” teacher who works in New York City. She’ll discuss her work in and out of the classroom, her study abroad experiences in Italy, and how she navigated the transition from undergraduate to graduate study.


Learn about the New York State Senate Internship Program, Tuesday, Sept. 15

This special virtual information session for New Paltz students features Nicholas Parrella, director of the New York State Senate Student Programs, discussing options for participating in a spring 2021 internship based in Albany during the next session of the state legislature. The program offers a $6,600 stipend for undergraduate students.

Class of 2023: Apply by Sept. 18 to join the new Sophomore Connections program!

This program matches students in their sophomore year with a SUNY New Paltz alumni mentor who can help guide them through the triumphs and challenges that they may experience this year. Mentors and mentees will meet virtually and discuss topics such as career exploration and readiness, campus involvement, major and class decisions and more.
