Message to students from the Commencement Office

Congratulations!!

You’ve reached a milestone in your academic career. We understand the disappointment of postponing our traditional in person commencement ceremony. In the interim, please join SUNY New Paltz to celebrate your accomplishments with family and friends.

When?

Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m.

To help make this possible we have added a few enhancements to this year’s ceremonies with a company called MarchingOrder.

With MarchingOrder:

  • You can RSVP for your graduation (please do this ASAP).
  • A professional name reader will announce your name at your ceremony.
  • You can upload your photo and personal message on a slider that your family and friends will see at commencement.

You will have the option to record your name to ensure it’s pronounced correctly on your big day.

Important Deadlines:

Ensure correct name pronunciation by April 29, 2020. (Note: the College is not responsible for mispronunciations if students do not provide that information to MarchingOrder before the deadline.)

Submit your photos and messages before May 9, 2020.

Other Important Information:

Links for the “virtual celebration” will be sent closer to the event to share with your family and friends worldwide. The link will be archived for one year.

A digital program is in the works and will be sent to all graduates and candidates closer to the event.

If you still wish to order or return a cap & gown from Herff Jones, information has and will continue to be sent to your hawk account. Please be on the lookout.

Students who achieved a 3.30 GPA or better as of December 2019, will receive a separate e-mail on how to order their honor cord.

Questions concerning diplomas and credits should be directed to the Office of Records & Registration.
