Clarifying Pause NY for our Employees

SUNY New Paltz is publishing important messages and news updates related to the College’s response to COVID-19 on the campus news website. Use this link to view all these posts in one place.

The update below was shared on Friday, March 20, following Governor Cuomo’s “New York State on PAUSE” Executive Order, a 10-point policy for public safety that went into effect on Sunday, March 22.

Campus community members can view updates at the Coronavirus Information and Coronavirus FAQs webpages, which are being updated regularly as this situation evolves.

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

The College has, over the last week or so, taken significant steps to reduce employee density on campus, consistent with the spirit of recent directives from Governor Cuomo.

Today’s announcement by the Governor requiring businesses and non-essential services to keep 100% of employees home DOES NOT apply to SUNY and does not mean the campus is closed. We remain operational.

Administrative offices remain open and are providing remote services and support. We discourage in-person assistance to the extent possible. Be sure to call ahead or refer to the office closings website to confirm the status of an office before visiting.

Faculty are permitted on campus to use technology, classrooms and office spaces necessary to provide or support continuity of remote instruction.

Thank you all for your creative and supportive approaches to telecommuting to help keep members of our community as healthy as possible.

Sincerely,

Tanhena Pacheco Dunn
Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
