Free income tax help starts Feb. 4 at the School of Business

The SUNY New Paltz School of Business announces the return of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which provides free tax help to individuals with a gross income below $60,000.

The VITA program connects community members with certified student volunteers who have received IRS training to provide basic tax return preparation assistance and free e- filing.

The walk-in service, housed in van den Berg Hall room 208A & B on the New Paltz campus, will be open from Feb. 4 – April 4 (excluding the semester break from March 18-22) on the following days:

  • Mondays: 10 a.m.  – 8 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 10 a.m.  – 8 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m.  – 6 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 10 a.m.  – 8 p.m.

There’s no need to schedule an appointment, but please be sure to bring photo ID, Social Security cards, tax-related documents such as W-2s & 1099s, last year’s tax return (if available), and your bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit.
