Make your next move: 70+ employers registered for Oct. 17 Networking Fair for Jobs & Internships

The Career Resource Center at SUNY New Paltz is preparing for one of the biggest Networking Fairs for Jobs & Internships in its history, as more than 70 employers have signed up to visit campus and meet with students and alumni about professional opportunities.

The Networking Fair for Jobs & Internships will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Student Union Multipurpose Room. All SUNY New Paltz students and alumni are welcome.

The companies and organizations that have registered for the Fair represent a broad cross-section of career opportunities in the Hudson Valley, New York City and beyond, and hiring managers are looking to meet with prospective employees from a wide variety of majors. Students and alumni are encouraged to prepare for the Fair as if they were preparing for a job interview. Wear professional attire, bring copies of résumés and be ready to have conversations about your career goals and professional skillset.

For those who may not have updated their résumés recently, or who just want some advice for how to make it stand out, the Career Resource Center will host Resumania, two days before the Networking Fair.

On Monday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., students are invited to drop by the Career Resource Center (Humanities 105) and meet with staff and volunteers from companies including Rondout Savings Bank, Northwestern Mutual, Target and Cintas, who will review résumés, offer feedback and provide 10 sheets of résumé paper to use for the Fair.

As an additional service for Fair attendees, the Career Resource Center has arranged for a professional photographer to be on campus from 12 – 3 p.m. on Oct. 17, the day of the Fair, to take portraits for students to use on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.

These three events – Resumania, on Oct. 15, and the Networking Fair for Jobs & Internships and LinkedIn photo session on Oct. 17 – are made possible thanks in part to generous sponsorship from many Career Resource Center partner organizations, including Target, Northwestern Mutual, Rondout Savings Bank, EFCO Products, Spectrum, DocuWare, Wealth Advisory Group and GEICO.

No advance registration is necessary for students interested in taking advantage of these opportunities. The Career Resource Center staff is available to answer any questions – call (845) 257-3265, email careers@newpaltz.edu, or simply stop by Humanities 105 and say hello.
