New Paltz earns spot on Kiplinger’s “Best College Values” list

SUNY New Paltz received high marks in the 2018 edition of the Kiplinger’s Personal Finance “Best College Values” list, coming in at number 76 among public colleges nationwide, and number 240 overall among all public and private colleges and universities.

The Kiplinger’s list rewards schools that perform highly on objective measures of academic quality (such as admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios and four-year graduation rates), as well as measures of affordability (such as cost of attendance and average debt at graduation).

SUNY New Paltz performs exceptionally well across all of these objectively measured categories, and has been a presence in the Kiplinger’s rankings for several years running.

“We are honored that Kiplinger’s has again recognized New Paltz in their ‘Best Value’ rankings,” said L. David Eaton, vice president for enrollment management. “It’s a validation of our efforts to provide a world-class university education that is accessible and affordable for students of all backgrounds, and ensure that our graduates have every opportunity to enjoy successful lives and careers.”

Kiplinger’s ranking methodology begins with an assessment of nearly 1,200 public and private colleges and universities, meaning New Paltz’s appearance at number 240 overall places it at the 80th percentile nationwide.

The full rankings are now available online and will appear in print in the February 2018 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands Jan. 9.
