A recent ranking from data-driven career site Zippia had SUNY New Paltz in the top 10 among New York colleges and universities for music majors.
The list drew from National Center for Education Statistics data to evaluate music programs on the basis of employment and earnings after graduation, share of music majors on campus relative to the overall student population, and the school’s performance on metrics like admission rate and cost of attendance.
“All of us at the Music Department are very pleased to be included in the top 10 best colleges for Music Majors in New York State,” said Department Chair Vinnie Martucci. “We have a terrific faculty, in a wide range of disciplines, dedicated to our teaching and artistry. But, I think the reason we are being acknowledged is because of the inspiring work of our students here in the department, and the fact that they take that with them after graduating into their lives and careers.
