Education faculty discuss work with Chinese students in New York Times

Associate Professor Lindsey Russo and Haggerty English Language Program Lecturer Sarah Elia published a lesson plan and recounting of experiences teaching in China, in the Aug. 24, 2017, edition of the New York Times.

Using Times Education Articles With Aspiring Teachers in China” describes a partnership between SUNY New Paltz and Chongqing University of Education, through which Chinese students split time between the two institutions to earn a four-year degree and attain skills as bilingual teachers.

Elia and Russo spent time in Chongqing with the first cohort of students enrolled in this unique program. They write about their experiences using Times articles to help Chinese students build their English vocabularies and develop cultural and academic competencies to help them succeed in Education programs in the U.S.
